Hoover the whole house and the car on one charge. Dog and cat hair goes in the bin, not round the roller. And when the battery wears out, it clicks out instead of ending the hoover.

Three-bed semi, stairs, laminate down and carpet up. Did the whole house and the car on one charge with plenty left, then stood it in the corner and walked off. And the little brush tool had the dog hair off the sofa in two minutes.Chris B. · York
Life with the Vekto Vacuum V18
Grab it off the wall, whizz round the whole place, hang it back up. Here is what changes in the first week.
It is light enough to carry up the stairs one-handed, and it lives on the wall by the door. There is no cord to fight and no plug to move from room to room. So you do a quick whizz round instead of putting it off.
The green LED strip on the floor head lights up the dust and the wisps of pet hair along the skirting board. A normal hoover leaves them behind.
Dogs and cats
If you have a dog or a cat, what you really want is to stop fighting the hair.
The V-shaped roller pulls hair to the middle and comb teeth strip it off, so it goes in the bin, not round the roller. No scissors, and no taking the head apart every week.
The motorised head lifts the pile and pulls out the hair trodden into it, the hair you only spot when someone's coming round.
Drag the slider. Left is a normal roller after a week in a house with a dog. Right is this one, same week.
“Hair just wraps round the roller so you need to take it apart once a week.”What owners say about the hoover they had before
The question everyone asks
Every cordless hoover review ends the same way: the battery went, and the machine went in the bin with it. Here is the straight answer.
On most cordless hoovers the battery is sealed inside. When it fades, the machine is finished and you buy another one. On this one the 25.9 V pack slides off the handle. A worn battery is a part you change, not a write-off.
A three-bed semi with stairs and a landing is 25 to 40 minutes of hoovering. It runs up to 60 minutes on one charge. The point is finishing the house, not the number on the box.
If the battery fades below 80% of its run time in the first five years, a new one is sent to you free, before you send the old one back. No registration.
The rest of it
Suction
A 550-watt motor gives 55 kPa of suction on Max. In plain English, it picks the bits up instead of pushing them round the floor. The crumbs under the high chair, the grit in the hall carpet and the mud off the car mats come up on the first pass. Not the third.
A 1.2-litre bin
Hold it over the kitchen bin, press the button, the bottom drops open and the dust falls out. Your hands never go near it. The bin holds 1.2 litres, more than twice the size of a Dyson V8's. In a house with two pets, that is one empty for the whole house, not three.
Handheld
Pull the tube off and the body is a handheld with the same suction, so the stairs are a doddle, one step at a time. The long crevice tool reaches down the side of the car seat. The 2-in-1 brush tool does the dashboard and the shelves, then the cushions, the mattress and the dog bed.
How it works
A cordless hoover comes down to three things: suction, hair on the roller, and how much fuss it is. Here is how the Vekto Vacuum V18 handles each one.
A 550 W motor gives 55 kPa of suction at the head, enough to lift grit out of the carpet. The motorised roller brings the pile up on carpet and sweeps laminate, with the green LED showing you where the dust is.
The V-shaped roller pushes hair to the centre, where comb teeth strip it off. It goes into the bin as loose hair, not wound round the brush.
A washable HEPA filter holds the fine dust in the hoover. The 1.2-litre bin means one empty for the whole house. The battery runs up to 60 minutes on one charge, and it clicks out of the handle if it ever wears out. And it stands up on its own wherever you stop.
Covered for five years, with 60 days to try it in your own home.
A repair shop's view
Twenty-two years fixing cordless hoovers that packed up just out of warranty. This is the one he tells his customers to buy, so they do not have to come back.
Two things come through my door every week. A roller clogged with hair, and a cordless with a dead battery sealed inside it. That second customer has to choose between a repair that costs half the price of the hoover and a new hoover. The Vekto Vacuum V18 fixes both. The V-roller actually strips hair. I have tested it with a bag of my own dog's hair. And the battery clicks out of the handle, so a worn pack is a part you change instead of a machine you bin. A 1.2-litre bin with a big washable HEPA filter means the motor is never fighting a blocked filter. No pulsing, no cutting out halfway round. That is why I tell people to buy it.

What it really costs
Three ways to a clean house, and what each one costs.
Great on day one. Then the hair wraps the roller and the little bin needs emptying twice a clean. When it conks out just out of warranty, it is £65 a pop for a battery or the same again for a new one.
Twenty minutes on a charge on a good day and a roller that wraps on the first pass. No spares, and nobody to call when it packs up.
Proper suction, the whole house on one charge, a roller that does not wrap and a bin you empty once. It stands on its own and every tool is in the box. The battery clicks out, so a worn pack does not end the machine. Covered for five years, with 60 days to try it at home. Delivered free, tracked to your door.

Light enough to carry up one-handed and do each step as a handheld. The green light on the front shows crumbs along the edge of the carpet I'd been walking past for years. My wife noticed the stairs before I said anything.
Laminate downstairs, carpet up, one dog who moults like it's her job. Did the whole house on one charge with plenty left and I have flipped the head over ten times looking for hair. Nothing on it. My old one got the scissors every Sunday. Still a bit suspicious, to be honest.
Pulls harder than the big name I paid double for and one bin does the whole house. Three long-haired daughters and not one thread on the roller. It is a bit heavy held up high for the cobwebs, so the corded one keeps that job. Dock took ten minutes. Four stars for the weight.
Lives on the wall by the kitchen. I grab it three times a day. Under the high chair is thirty seconds. Emptying it over the bin without touching anything is the best part of my week right now.
Didn't need a big hoover, needed one I'd use. Sofa with the little brush, floors on the low setting, charges on the shelf by the door. Quieter than my flatmate's.
Wanted something for the car and thought I'd get a proper hoover for the same money. Skinny tool gets down the side of the seats. Then I did the house on the same charge. The corded one's been under the stairs since May.

Out of the box
Two screws for the dock, click the tube in, charge it, and it's ready.
Hang it on the dock or plug the cable into the body. Four to five hours from empty. The round screen shows the level as a percentage.
Telescopic tube into the body, floor head onto the tube. The crevice tool and the 2-in-1 brush tool hang on the dock so they are always to hand.
Two screws, and the dock charges the stick and holds the tools. Or skip the drill: it stands on its own in the corner. If you can see it, you will use it.
What's in the box
Both tools, the spare filter and the wall dock are in the box, not sold separately. Keep the box for 60 days in case you want to send it back.

Common questions
The Home & Pet Kit: the 2-in-1 brush tool for the sofa, the stairs, the car seats and the dog bed, the long crevice tool, a spare washable HEPA filter (so you can swap in a dry one while the other dries), and the wall dock that charges the hoover and holds both tools. It is in the box with every order, at no extra cost. The 5-year guarantee covers all of it.
Up to 60 minutes on one charge. A typical three-bed semi takes 25 to 40 minutes. So one charge does the house, upstairs and down, on Eco or Mid, the settings you use for most of it.
It is not sealed in. Press the catch and the 25.9 V pack slides off the handle. That is the part that usually ends a cordless hoover, and on this one it is a part you can change. It is covered by the 5-year guarantee as well.
The roller is V-shaped with comb teeth that strip hair off as it spins, and it is sucked into the bin. It is built for exactly this. People with retrievers and long hair in the house say they have never once touched the roller. If yours ever wraps in the first 60 days, send it back.
Use Mid or Max on carpet, and the motorised head brings the pile up and pulls the grit out from underneath. It is not the underpowered cordless you have read about. Very deep shag pile can stall any cordless head, so it is worth knowing before you buy.
1.2 litres, more than twice the size of a Dyson V8's. The whole house in a two-pet home is one empty. It opens from the bottom with one button over the kitchen bin, without your hands going near the dust.
Fair question, and it is why the guarantee is five years, not one. The motor, head and every tool are covered, and spares are stocked for five years. You also have 60 days to send it back for a full refund. It is delivered free and tracked, and if a part can ever not be supplied, the machine is replaced.
Yes. Stop anywhere and it balances on its own floor head. The wall dock in the box charges it and holds the tools. You do not have to drill anything. Charge it on the dock or by the cable into the body, whichever suits your cupboard.
Send us a message and you get it repaired or replaced, free. The 5-year guarantee covers the motor, the battery, the head and every tool, counted from the day yours arrives. If the battery fades below 80% of its run time in the first five years, a new one is sent to you free, before you send the old one back. No £65-a-pop battery bill just out of warranty. Filters, heads and tools stay in stock for five years.
Stop cutting hair off the roller. Stop waiting on a flat battery with two rooms left. Stop lugging the big one up the stairs. The Vekto Vacuum V18 does the house and the car, hangs back on the wall, and is covered for five years, battery included. It is delivered free, tracked to your door.
