Vekto Vacuum V18™

Grab it, do the main floor, the upstairs and the basement on one charge, then put it back. Hair goes in the dust cup, not around the brush roll. And the battery clicks out, so a worn pack never ends the vacuum.

Life with the Vekto Vacuum V18

Main floor, upstairs and the basement on one charge. Then the car.

You grab it, clean up the mess, and move on with your day. Here is what changes in the first week.

A woman in a bright hallway resting a hand on the Vekto Vacuum V18 as it stands on its own, stairs behind her
You actually vacuum more

No central vac hose to drag from room to room. No corded upright to haul up from the basement. It stands by the door, so a five-minute pickup happens now instead of on cleaning day.

You see what you were missing

Five green LEDs on the floor head light up the dust and pale pet hair along the baseboard and under the couch. You will see dirt you did not know was there, and then it is gone.

Dogs and cats

Built for the house with a shedding dog in it.

If you have a dog or a cat, you are not really buying a vacuum. You are buying a way to sit on your own couch without fur all over you.

A golden retriever on a rug while the Vekto Vacuum V18 lifts shed hair out of the pile
The roller stays clean

The V-shaped brush roll pushes hair to the middle and the comb teeth strip it off, so it ends up in the dust cup instead of wound around the bar. No scissors, no seam ripper, no taking the head apart on a Sunday.

Hair off the rug, not just the surface

The motorized head lifts the pile and pulls out the fur that is worked down into it, the hair you only notice when someone is coming over.

The question everyone asks

Will the battery die at two years like the last one?

Every cordless vacuum story ends the same way: the battery faded right after the warranty, a new one cost $150 or more, and the machine went in the garbage. Here is the straight answer.

Vekto Vacuum V18 standing upright on its own in a bright hallway beside its wall dock
  1. 01
    The pack comes out

On most cordless vacuums the battery is sealed inside. When it fades, the machine is done and you buy another one. On this one the 25.9 V pack slides off the handle. A tired battery is a part, not a write-off.

  2. 02
One charge still does the house

A three-bedroom home with stairs and a hallway is 25 to 40 minutes of vacuuming. Up to 60 minutes on one charge means it does not die with one room left. The screen shows the percentage the whole way.

  3. 03
It is covered for five years, battery included

If the battery drops below 80% of its runtime in those five years, you get a new one free, before you send the old one back. No registration, no 28-day window. Spare packs can be ordered any time, in year one or year five.

The rest of it

Strong suction, a big dust cup, and a handheld for the stairs and the car.

Suction

Up on the first pass, not pushed around.

55 kPa on Max is a big number, and numbers on a box mean little. What it means on your floor: the Cheerios under the high chair come up on the first pass, not the third. So does the grit in the rug and the dirt the dog tracks in at the back door. Press once and it stays on. No trigger to hold for the whole house, no cramp in your hand.

The dust cup

One empty per run. And you never touch the dust.

Small cups are why people empty a stick three or four times per house. This one holds 1.2 litres, more than twice a Dyson V8's, so a whole-house run in a two-pet home is one empty. Hold it over the garbage, press the button, the bottom drops open, and your hands never go near the dust.

Pull the tube off and the body is a handheld with the same suction. The long crevice tool gets down the side of the car seats and along the edges of the stairs. The 2-in-1 brush tool does the dash, the shelves, the cushions, the mattress and the dog bed.

How it works

The VectorClean™ system: from the floor to the dust cup without a snag.

A cordless vacuum comes down to three things. How hard it pulls. Whether hair gets past the brush. How much you have to fuss with it. Here is how the Vekto Vacuum V18 handles each one.

  1. 01
    Pull it up

A 550 W motor pulls 55 kPa of suction on Max, enough to lift grit out of a rug on the first pass. The spinning brush roll does the lifting on carpet and sweeps hardwood, with the green light showing you where.

  2. 02
    Strip the hair

The V-shaped brush roll drives hair to the centre where comb teeth strip it off and the suction takes it. It lands in the dust cup as loose hair, not a rope around the brush.

  3. 03
Keep the dust in, no fuss

The washable HEPA filter holds the fine dust in the machine. A 1.2-litre dust cup means one empty per run. The battery runs up to 60 minutes on one charge and clicks out of the handle if a pack ever wears out. The whole thing stands up on its own wherever you stop.

Covered for five years, with 60 days to try it in your own home.

A repair shop's view

A vacuum repair technician explains why the Vekto Vacuum V18 works

Twenty years fixing cordless vacuums other people gave up on. This is the one he tells his customers to buy, so they do not have to come back.

A vacuum repair technician in his workshop holding the Vekto Vacuum V18 and its battery
Two things come through my door every week: a brush roll wrapped solid with hair, and a cordless with a dead battery sealed inside it. That second customer gets a choice between a $160 battery, if I can even get one, and a new vacuum. Most pick the new vacuum. The Vekto Vacuum V18 stops the first problem and takes the second one off the table. The V-shaped brush roll actually strips hair. I ran a bag of my own dog's through it. And the battery clicks out of the handle, so a worn pack is a part you change, not a machine you throw away. A 1.2-litre dust cup with a big washable filter means the motor never runs choked. That is why I tell people to buy it.

What it really costs

What a vacuum really costs over five years

Same goal: a clean house without a fight. Three very different bills.

Option 1The $400 refurb or the name brand on sale$400 to $650, then again at year 3

Great suction on day one. A refurb is often final sale, with a one-year warranty. Then the hair wraps the brush roll, the little cup fills twice a run, and the battery dies a month after the warranty. A new battery is around $150, if it is in stock. Most people buy the whole vacuum again.

Option 2The $120 stick, twice a year$120 every six months

Twenty minutes on a good day if you are lucky, a brush roll that wraps on the first pass, no spare parts, and nobody answering when you email.

Option 3Vekto Vacuum V18$379.00$499.00

The whole house on one charge, and suction that gets the grit out of the rug. A brush roll that does not wrap and a dust cup you empty once. It stands on its own, with every tool in the box. The battery clicks out, so a worn pack does not end the machine, and it is covered for five years. 60 days to try it at home. Ships free across Canada, dispatched in under 48 hours.

The central vac can stay off

The house came with a central vac, and I hated dragging that hose up the stairs and scuffing every wall on the way. Now I carry this up one-handed and do each step with the short end. The light on the front showed crumbs along the carpet edge I'd been walking past for years. The hose is coiled up in the basement and it is staying there.

Golden hair on everything

Hardwood on the main floor, carpet up, one golden who leaves tumbleweeds in every corner. Main floor, upstairs and the stairs between on one charge, battery still in the 40s. I've flipped the head over a dozen times looking for hair and there is nothing on it. My old one got a haircut every Sunday. Couch cushions with the little brush take two minutes. Still a little suspicious, honestly.

Good, heavier than I expected

I'm 68 with arthritis in both hands. My son ordered this for me because you press the button once and let go, and he said I could send it back if it was too heavy. I kept it. It pulls harder than the big name I paid double for, and there is not one strand of my long grey hair on the brush roll. Held up high for the ceiling fan it is heavy, so the old corded one keeps that job. Four stars for the weight.

Toddler

Two kids under four. Cheerios, goldfish crackers, and whatever that sticky spot was, every day. It hangs by the kitchen and I grab it three or four times a day. The playroom rug is a minute. Under the high chair is thirty seconds. Dumping it over the garbage without touching anything is the best part of my week right now.

Small place, one cat

One-bedroom condo, one long-haired cat. I spent two weeks reading deal threads, stuck between this and a refurb with a one-year warranty. The longer warranty won. Floors on the low setting, litter around the box with the skinny tool, couch with the little brush. It charges on the wall by the door. Quieter than my roommate's, and I haven't run the battery down once.

Bought it for the truck

Wanted something for the truck and figured I'd get a real vacuum for the same money. The skinny tool gets down the side of the seats, and the salt and grit from a whole winter of boots came off the floor mats. Then I did the house on the same charge. The upright hasn't been out of the garage since May.

Out of the box

On the wall in ten minutes

Two screws for the mount, a click for the wand, a charge, and it is your vacuum.

  1. 01Charge the battery

Hang it on the dock or plug the cable into the body. Four to five hours from empty, and the round screen shows the charge as a percentage.

  2. 02Click it together

Telescopic tube into the body, floor head onto the tube. The crevice tool and the 2-in-1 brush tool hang on the dock so they are always right there.

  3. 03Mount the dock by the door

Two screws, and the dock charges the stick and holds the tools. Or skip the drill: it stands on its own in the front hall or by the basement stairs.

Is it right for you?

Is this the right vacuum for your house?

For people who want the whole house done in one go, and are done with vacuums whose battery dies right after the warranty.

The Vekto Vacuum V18 is built for you if

  • You want the main floor, upstairs and basement on one charge, then the car

  • You have long hair, a dog or a cat, and you are done cutting hair off the brush roll

  • You want an app: this one has a screen and buttons, on purpose

If the first list sounds like your home, this is the vacuum. And you have 60 days to try it at home.
